Just got back from a jaunt from the Willamette Valley where we got to eat our way through Portland and hand select some of our favorite plants to share with you this season. We can’t wait to show you some of them! We stuffed the trailer with goodies that we will be growing out and some are ready to go now. So come on out to get first peek! We got a great collection of Manzanita from one of our most admired growers- Xeraplants. We tried to choose quite a few that will stay smaller- closer to 3’x3′ so everyone can enjoy the red bark and evergreen beauty of Arctostaphylos.
Many new Callistemon (Bottlebrushes), Ceanothus, and super deer resistant Leptospermums (tea tree) made it onto the truck.
One of my favorites is the Horned Poppy, Glaucium flavum– it has toothed blue foliage and then buttery golden poppy flowers in late spring. Most of these plants fit our standards of drought tolerant, deer resistant, cold hardy varieties, long bloom time, or all four. This is an exciting time of year seeing all the new arrivals and trying out some unusual varieties that we think will do great in the Rogue Valley.
