If you love boxwoods and need an option for a tall privacy screen that fits in a narrow space, then ‘Graham Blandy’ (Buxus sempervirens) boxwood, is the superstar you have been looking for.

In general, English boxwoods are extremely versatile shrubs that are easily integrated into any landscape. They are naturally short and compact, with small, green, glossy, oval-shaped, evergreen leaves that look great in their natural form, or when pruned into a uniform shape.

‘Graham Blandy’ is unique among the boxwood family because of its upright, dense, and columnar shape that can reach up to 10’ tall and only 2’ wide. It’s natural, slender, and elegant form adds a bit of height to narrow spaces and can be easily maintained at a height that works best for you.

Fortunately for us in the Rogue Valley, the deer don’t care for it, it has good resistance to boxwood blight, and becomes moderately drought tolerant once the root system is well established. It can take full sun to part shade and prefers to grow in well-draining, alkaline soil, that is kept moderately moist, and not allowed to dry completely out.
