Shooting Star is Hiring!

Job Opening

nursery smShooting Star Nursery is looking for just the right person to join us by becoming our next Office Manager!

We have a great team here at the nursery: a wonderful group of hard-working plant nerds who have all contributed to the success of our nursery, and have helped create a business that is here to truly help customers learn about plants, and about how to create thriving and beautiful gardens.

Our Office Manager is the person who helps keep this busy office running smoothly. Duties include, but are not limited to: receiving orders, sending out invoices for payment, making plant tags, answering the phone, coordinating our delivery schedule, and helping with retail sales (including lifting plants onto carts and pulling carts) – often in quick succession! Great organizational skills and the ability to multi-task are essential. The successful candidate will also have experience working with plants, and be comfortable using botanical names.

In addition, there is an opportunity for this position to take on some of our marketing work (social media posts, website and class updates, weekly Plant of the Week articles, and monthly blog posts, and email newsletters). If the applicant has the plant knowledge and writing skills necessary for this work, an hourly marketing rate will apply to the time spent on those tasks.

This is a full time, Monday through Friday, position for most of the year with the potential for more time off over the winter, if desired. Compensation will depend on experience. Shooting Star Nursery offers health insurance through Providence after six months on the job; contributions of 3% on a simple IRA after a year on the job; and two weeks of paid time off per year, with the potential for more once a year has passed.
