‘Autumn Brilliance’ Serviceberry
We are absolutely in love with this serviceberry! It works well as either a small single-trunked tree or large multi-trunk shrub; personally, we like it multi-stemmed but we generally have single-stemmed plants available as well.
“Autumn Brilliance” provides great visual interest throughout the year. New leaves that emerge bronze in early spring, become a lovely blue-green in summer, and turn a fiery orange-red in fall. The white flowers bloom around April and seem to last longer than the flowering cherries – at least 3 weeks. In summer, “Autumn Brilliance” is covered in tasty blue-black fruit that both birds and humans enjoy. Provide full to half day sun. Well draining soil and our dry summers should help prevent some of the humidity based diseases it can get. Can be drought tolerant once established and grows 15-25 feet tall. Good replacement in sun for multi trunked Japanese Maple. Looks great with dark green pines or other evergreen as backdrop.
